Halloween Weekend

So yesterday we had out Trunk or Treat Party at the church and had a blast. We got there a little late because we had to pick up some last minute things for Elyssa's costume. She and I both went as Rosalie from Twilight. Dj went as a Karate kid and Dale went as himself. Ha ha. Anyway we had a ton of fun. Afterwards we came home and Dj packed to go spend the night with his friend.

Today we got up and got ready for the day. Then went and picked up Dj and then headed out for a day out of the house. It was a nice day so we spent the better part of it outside. Later we came home and I got a call from Lori asking if I would watch the baby for her while she and her husband Ricky took their oldest little boy to some farm for a couple of hours. I said sure and they came over and dropped her off. They got back about three hours later and went home. We sat and watched a new show called Scared Shrekless which was cute and then watched and old movie from when I was a kid called Little Monsters. I love that movie. Anyway now I am tired and headed to bed. So............

long day

so today was the longest day ever in my life. Probably not true but man did it feel like it. I had two very energetic boys today and a pretty calm baby for the most part but I have been up since 5:30 this morning. At about noonish one of my visiting teachers stopped by to say hi and see how I was doing. Thanks Sister lawton for the visit I really needed a little adult interaction. I have not had that all week. Anyway after she left I got the boys to take a nap so I got a small break until Mindy showed up with her boys. Suddenly the house was out of control. The noise level was deafening and my small headache went to a full blown Migraine. After about an hour and a half everyone was gone and I finally got to take a shower and calm down a bit until Mindy came back over to ask if I would keep and eye on the baby while she took the other two to tennis practice. I said sure cause it would only be an hour. Suddenly her oldest decided that he wanted to throw a full blown two year old fit even though he is almost 7 and so he lost his right to go and the temper tantrum went into a nuclear meltdown. His mom was literally sitting on him to keep him from hitting her. Finally I got a hold of him from behind and sat him on my lap while holding his hands so he wouldn't hit me and he calmed down. I hated seeing her going through that and remembering all the meltdowns that Dj and I went through. Although I have never really ever had to hold Dj down in order to calm him down. Anyway he got over it and was fine for the rest of time he was here. Now everyone is gone. The kids are out playing and I have the house to myself. Yeah peace and quiet. Hears hoping the rest of my night is calm and quiet also. Well that's all for now.

Shot to heck

wow I cant believe that this month is almost over. It has gone to poop in the fact that I have don't hardly no blogging this month. I hate when I do that. I have been working so hard with a few kids that I don't even have time to go to the gym anymore now that they are not allowing nanny passes. Man that sucks big time. Anyway I have four wonderful kids that I am watching right now and making pretty good money at it also. Anyway it is a job for now until I either get a car or find a close enough job that I can walk, hint hint I can finally get a workout in. lol. I think I really need an out of the house job soon cause I am becoming to much of a homebody and hermit that Dale thinks I have lost touch with the outside world other than the occasional trip to church functions and kids schools. I can't help that my job keeps me home more than I would like but at least I am bringing in some money right. I know I am kinda all over the place with this blog but my mind is kinda in kid mode at the moment. I hate when that happens. Well I guess that is all for now.

Blog at you later. Hopefully more often also....lol

Fall pics of 2010

So this week has been a very busy week. I started working, well babysitting again to pick up a few extra bucks to make ends meet. Anyway we got a small break today and so we went out to spend the day in this beautiful weather. In the process I found a beautiful place out in the woods behind my apartments. I decided to take a few test shots to see if they would look good as a place to take our family fall pictures. Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Let me know what you think.

Random dozen

1. Do you prefer to read the book or see the movie? usually read the book but sometimes I think the movie comes out better than the book. Not often though.

2. What is your favorite holiday and why? I have so many but I think Christmas just because I usually get to be with lots of family.

3. Which do you like better - the mountains or the beach? The mountains because I lived by the beach for many years and had to deal with many hurricanes. I done with all that. I will take the peacefulness of the mountains any day.

4. If money were no consideration, what vehicle would you drive? Easy a Corvette or a Chevy Avalanche.

5. What is your favorite cold-weather beverage? Hot cocoa. Yummmm

6. How do you communicate most often with your friends: phone, email, text, face-to-face, or Facebook? a little of all of them. but mostly text or facebook.

7. How do you receive your mail? Mailbox on the porch, at the end of the driveway, down the street, or post office box? on the porch well sort of Im in an apartment so I have to go downstairs but it is still right out side.

8. Of the four basic personality types - sanguine, phlegmatic, melancholic, and choleric - which is your strongest? Which is your least evident? (See definitions below.) I am going to leave this one up to all you readers. You know me pretty well. So you tell me what you think fits me most and what fits me least. I will be interested to see what you all think of me. lol

9. What do you miss the most about being 20? Not much but mostly my figure. lol

10. How long from the time you get up, does it take you to get ready to walk out the door in the morning? about twenty minutes unless I have to shower first then about 45 minutes.

11. Who handles the car maintenance and pays the bills in your family? Mostly my husband but I know more about cars than he does. Although neither of us really maintain the car we just take it to someone who does it for us.

12. For those in the US, how many states have you visited? For those outside the US, how many provinces/other countries have you visited? About 30 states. Never been outside the US but so looking forward to the day that gets to happen.

Personality type definitions courtesy Wikipedia:

Sanguine

The Sanguine temperament personality is fairly extroverted. People of a sanguine temperament tend to enjoy social gatherings, making new friends and tend to be quite loud. They are usually quite creative and often daydream. However, some alone time is crucial for those of this temperament. Sanguine can also mean very sensitive, compassionate and thoughtful. Sanguine personalities generally struggle with following tasks all the way through, are chronically late, and tend to be forgetful and sometimes a little sarcastic. Often, when pursuing a new hobby, interest is lost quickly when it ceases to be engaging or fun. They are very much people persons. They are talkative and not shy. For some people, these are the ones you want to be friends with and usually they become life long friends.

Choleric

A person who is choleric is a doer. They have a lot of ambition, energy, and passion, and try to instill it in others. They can dominate people of other temperaments, especially phlegmatic types. Many great charismatic military and political figures were cholerics. They like to be leaders and in charge of everything.

Melancholic

A person who is a thoughtful ponderer has a melancholic disposition. Often very considerate and get rather worried when they could not be on time for events, melancholics can be highly creative in activities such as poetry and art - and can become occupied with the tragedy and cruelty in the world. A melancholic is also often a perfectionist. They are often self-reliant and independent; one negative part of being a melancholic is sometimes they can get so involved in what they are doing they forget to think of others.

Phlegmatic

Phlegmatics tend to be self-content and kind. They can be very accepting and affectionate. They may be very receptive and shy and often prefer stability to uncertainty and change. They are very consistent, relaxed, rational, curious, and observant, making them good administrators and diplomats.

Breakdown of Fall Break

This week has been a busy week. Dale worked overtime almost everyday so that left us limited as to what we could do. So here is the breakdown of the week from what I can remember.

Monday: We spent most of the day inside because it rained all day. The kids played in their rooms and cleaned up. After we were all done with our chores for the day we played a game of Monopoly and then I started working on some fall cards to send out to all my nephews and niece. Later I made dinner and we watched a couple of movies as a family ( well minus Dale ofcourse.)

Tuesday: Consisted of us hanging out outside for the most part. It was a beautiful day until late afternoon when we had a couple of small showers. I worked more on the fall cards ( which I will post later). Later I played tennis with Mindy for a couple of hours. I love tennis.

Wednesday: We cleaned the house again today then played outside so the kids could have some fresh air. Later I ran a few erronds then called Michelle to see what she has been up to since I never see her anymore. She said she was just cleaning so I asked if I could come and keep her company. She said yes so I went over there and hung out with her for a couple of hours then headed home at about 7:30. It was so nice to just hang out with her again. I miss hanging out with her. I told her that I have been playing tennis pretty much everyday and she said she loves tennis and wanted to come play with me so I told her when she is in town to stop by and we will play. Once I got home I made dinner and just hung out till bed time.

Thurday: Was a slow day. Not much happened. I worked more on my fall cards and the kids played outside. Dale worked overtime so once he got home he slept the rest of the day away.

Friday: Today we ran some erronds and payed a couple of bills then went to the bookstore and picked up a couple of books then headed over to stores the kids wanted to go to so they could spend their money. After all that we headed home and Elyssa and I watched Beauty and the Beast in her room and Dale and Dj watched Nightmare on Elm street 3 in the livingroom. Mindy called in the middle of our movies and needed Dale to help her change her tire on her SUV cause she didn't know how and then he helpped David move her broken Washing Machine into the back of the Truck so she could take it to her moms. After all that we made dinner and hit the bed early.

This brings us to today. We all got up at about 9:30 and cleaned the house then we took the kids to the skate park for about an hour and half so DJ could practice his skateboarding. (As soon as blogger lets me I will post pictures of everything.) Then came home cause it was getting hot. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out together.

Well that's all for now. Blog at you later.

Random Dozen Minus #4

1. Is there a word which you initially mispronounced? Were the circumstances in which you made the faux pas embarrassing? By the way, that's not "foax pass." (I know you know that. Just jokin' with ya.) Im sure there was and Im sure it was pretty embarrassing but I can't remember at this moment.

2. How do you feel about the use of texting shortcuts and trends? (ex: "I've got ur notes. Get them 2 u 2morow.") I love it cause it makes txting so much easier and faster.

3. Tell me about your high school senior picture. Please feel free to post. Oh that wasn't a bad picture but I don't think I have it anymore cause I lost alot of things in both the Hurrican of 05 and the house fire of 09. But from what I can remember it was me with my formal dress on and my hair done up really nice.

5. Share a high school or college homecoming memory. All my school dances where awesome. I always had a great time. I do remember this one time that my whole gang had a great time and as we were all leaving my best friend Bill's truck broke down and the only people in his truck where me him and my girlfriend Misty. Since neither of us girls knew how to drive a stick shift truck we were the ones pushing the truck trying to jump start it. I remember that I tore my pantyhose all to heck. We finally got it going but by that time my pantyhose were a total loss and so were Misty's. But we had a great time.

6. Linda at Mocha with Linda wants to know: "Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?" I really love both. but if I had to choose I would say sunsets. they are just so beautiful. Lots of colors.

7. Lea at Cici's Corner asks, "What is something you have not done that you desire to do?" That would be alot of things. I have what is called a bucket list that has about 20 things on it that I want to do before I die. One of the big things is to get over my fear of hights and jump out of an airplane and skydive. Im not sure I will ever do that one.

8. Carol at Wanderings of an Elusive Mind ponders, "If you could come back [in another life] as an animal, which would it be?" Easy a Giraffe. I love those beautiful animals.

9. Joyce from The Other Side of the Pond is curious: "Where were you 10 years ago?" Please feel free to elaborate more than just your physical location. Ten years ago I was living in Mississippi with my son and my husband. We were just married and having a great time as a new couple.

10. When you are proven to be correct in any contentious discussion, do you gloat? I try not to but sometimes its just so much fun to say " See I do know what I am talking about".

11. What is your favorite food which includes the ingredient "caramel?" The only thing I can think of is Carmel Apples. But it has to have nuts on it or its no good.

12. From my 17 year-old daughter to you: "If you could be part of any fictional family, which family would you choose and why?" I can't say I would be part of any fictional family just because I love the family I have now.

Port Royal Powwow

Wow I really need to start posting everyday again. Anyway today was a beautiful day. Dale and Dj went to the Father-Son campout at the Boddie Farm last night and then stayed for the Family Fun day afterwards. Meanwhile Elyssa and I stayed home and watched The Wizard of Oz and then went to bed early. Today we went to the Port Royal Pow Wow and had a wonderful time until it got so hot we had to leave. I got to pick up some new jewlery and visit a bit with Elaine and then particitpate in the Trail of Tears walk. My friend Mindy ( who is Native American, although you cant tell it by looking at her) took us over there and we got to see her particitpate in the opening cerimony of the Pow Wow but had to leave cause Aiden was getting way to over heated. The next day we went back to finsh watching the whole Pow wow cause Dale and Dj we upset they didn't get to go. We all had a blast. This whole thing makes me really want to trace down my heritage and see just how much Native American I really do have in me. I know I have two different types but Im not sure how much of both or either is in me personally.I think I will look into that. Well the whole thing just wore me out so I am hitting the hay. Enjoy the pictures.

above is the sign that shows what and where the trail of tear is.
This is Mindy and Aiden at the beginning of the trail of tears walk

Here is elyssa looking a little lost

And our own Elaine.

This is the Elders walking ahead of everyone on the Trail of Tears

The Elders leading everyone into and around the circle for opening exercises.

This is just a cool TeePee I saw there and couldnt help taking a picture of it.

These next two were called either grass dancers or grass stompers. I cant remember but their job was to stomp all the grass down so that the dancers could dance on a flat area.

These were the Tadtional Male and Female leaders for the weekend. I love their outfits.

This lady was beautiful in her whole outfit but I don't know how she managed to make it all weekend in that leather without overheating. I would have passed out by the end of the first hour.
This guy was just way to cool not to take a picture of.

This is the Story Teller. She would tell all the kids about storys that would help them be better people and entertain them at the same time. Elyssa liked her but I think Dj was only their for the candy.

This guys outfit was awesome. I tried to get several shots of him but he didn't stay still long enough for me to get any really good shots.
This guy was really cool. I loved they way he danced. Next year Im taking a video camera also.
These two are Father and Son and they did a dance with hoops. It was very interesting. Again I wish I had a video of it cause the whole dance was just beautiful.

This young lady did a dance called the Jinggle dress dance. I think they called it that cause her dress jinngled when she moved. Not creative I know but the dance was pretty good.
The Leather Dress lady again. She also participated in the Womans Tational dance.

This was the TeePee right as you came into the area where they held the PowWow. It was a pretty cool looking TeePee. Even the kids liked it.

Random Dozen

1. From "Men Are Dumb ....": If you had a theme song that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be? Hmm that's a tough one. I really don't know.

2. From Pam of "Alert And Oriented x 4": Which of your shoes are your absolute favorite, and which are of the object of your most painful shoe-buyer's remorse? well my favorite would be my flip flops of course and my most painful would be these beautiful brown high hills that I bought a couple of years ago. I love them but I can only wear them for about 10 mins.

3. From Susanne of "Living to Tell the Story": Tell about your favorite birthday celebration that you've personally experienced. That would be my 30th birthday bash. You can look it up in my blog history. I had a blast.

4. From Lori of "Just me and My Life": If you were a flavor of ice cream, which would you be? duhhh Strawberry Cheesecake.

5. Cindy Swanson of "Notes in the Key of Life" asks: Have you ever had a crush on a movie star? Who was it, and are you still crushing? That would be yes but there are to many to post on here. lol

6. Jill from "Jill Boyd's Place" inquires: Glasses or braces--if you had to wear one, which would it be? Both I need both. Don't like either but I need both.

7. Nel from "Fasteneau Facts" asks: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Oh most defiantly either here or Montana.

8. Thena from "Patiently Waiting" wants to know: If money were no obstacle, what would be the perfect birthday gift to receive? I'm not big on birthday gifts but usually something home made from the heart. I love stuff like that.

9. From "Life Through Bifocals," LynnMarie asks: What is your favorite birthday meal? Anything my family makes for me.

10. Debby at "Just Breathe" checks in with: Do you still send hand-written thank you notes? every once in a blue moon. But not as often as I should.

11. Linda from "Mocha with Linda" poses this question: What is something you've done that you never thought you'd do? I don't know.

12. Jewel, my home girl from Indiana who writes at "Musings from the World of Jewel," is very insistent that we answer this: Mount Rushmore honors four US Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. If you could add any person to Mount Rushmore, who would you add and why? I can't think of anyone I would add. I don't think I like anyone that much that I want the whole world to see them everyday. LOL

random melting pot

Ok so it seems that I have been so busy the last few weeks that the only time I get to sit down and blog is on Wednesday and even that is busy day. So to catch you up with me I will just do a random melting pot of what has been going on. Basically I have been deep cleaning my house, I tend to do this like every other month. I secretly think the stuff in my house is multiplying while I sleep cause I don't know where it is all coming from. Ha ha. On top of that I have been helping a friend clean her house and rearrange it, I took up tennis since the pool was closed last week and Dale has been working so much overtime trying to get us out of debt again, I play everyday and love it. Mindy got me started playing again and I thank her deeply for that. I have also been helping keep Mindy company while her boyfriend works also. As you know she has three little boys and only one of them is in school right now so she has her hands full. Plus playing tennis with her get both her and I out of the house everyday. Today I went with Mindy to her OBGYN appt. on base and saw Sister Howe there. She looks really good. After that we came home and played some tennis for a bit then I took a short nap and then headed to the church so that Dj could go to his Young Men/ Scouts meeting. Now I am home and finally blogging again. Wow you know when I type it all out it really doesn't seem like a lot of stuff but it sure has kept me pretty busy. Well that is all for now. You are all caught up with my life. He he.
