A day out

So we had a few things to get done today. We got up and straited up the house then got dressed and headed out to pay a couple of bills and do some food shopping. While out Elyssa wanted to go to the mall and pick up her first day of school outfit at Justice but when we got there she ended up buying a backpack and lunchbox instead. Then we went over to Books-A-Million to waste so time and I picked up a couple of new scrapbooking/card magazines and Elyssa got a how to draw cloths book. Then we went and picked DJ up from the McDonald's at exit 11 from his White Water Rafting trip. He said he had a blast but couldn't take his camera on the raft with him so he couldn't get very many pictures. But he had fun none the less. After all that we came home and I did a little reorganizing of my craft area and then hit the bed kinda early since we have a full of church tomorrow.

Dales Graduation

Me and Dale after graduation

The family after graduation
it was very sunny and hot outside.
From left to right

Me, Dale, Brett, Samantha

And now the pictures from the Graduation

Above is Dale lining his Alfa group up for Flag ceremony

Dale in line waiting to hear his name for his diploma

Shaking hands with the bosses

Getting his Diploma from the head of the Academy

Brett (Dales best friend) getting his diploma

What a full day today was. So I got up at 5:15 and got ready for the day. Dropped the kids off with Ryan and we headed out to Nashville to get ready for Dales graduation. He had to be there at 7:00 for flag ceremony and graduation practice. Then at 9:00 we had to go to a seminar on the stresses of being a cop and what tole that takes on the officer and his family. Then at 11:00 he graduated with 52 other officers. Not all of them were from Clarksville P.D. only 10 total. It was a beautiful ceremony and then we took a few pictures and headed home to get Dale changed and headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and a little celebrating. We met up with Dales new best friend Brett and his family and Ryan and her kids as well as Diana and her husband Charles. After that was all done we came home and got DJ ready to leave for his White water rafting trip in the morning. He is spending the night at Brother Richards house cause they have to leave early to get there. Now I am headed to bed and it is only 8:30 because I am very tired after the long and eventful day we have had today.

Scrap/card club

Today I went and did some cards at Diana's house for my scrapbooking/card club. We always have a good time together but we were missing a couple of people. Hopefully they will all be able to be there next week. Later Dale came home from the Police Academy and we helped him unpack his stuff and get ready for tomorrow. Then I logged onto my AOL account and did something I have not done in years which was have an IM chat with my Bestie. It was nice. I should do that more often considering that that is how her and I met and got to know each other. Then Dale took the kids and some of their friends down to the pool to cool off while I finished up my blogging. Now its just time to relax and prep for tomorrows big day.

Wednesday HodgePodge

1. July is National Ice Cream month...your favorite flavor? Soft served, hand dipped, or frozen yogurt...which do you prefer? And technically yogurt is not ice cream but its hot outside so I'll let that slide for today.
I prefer all three but if I had to choose I would go with soft served just because it is so yummy. And my favorite flavor is all of them I have not met a flavor I have not liked yet.

2. When you travel do you tend to pack too much or too little?
It depends on where I am going. If I know exactly what I will be doing than just the right amount but if I don't know then usually to much because I just want to be on the safe side.

3. What's your favorite cleaning product?
That would have to be this stuff called Awesome. It literally cleans everything. I love it.

4. Which is the greater tragedy-an innocent person imprisoned or a guilty person set free? Explain.
Wow I cant say either way because both are very bad things.

5. What's the longest trip you've taken by car?
That would be the trip when we moved from Colorado to West Virgina. It took us four days to drive and I thought I was going to go crazy by the time it was over.

6. tennis-golf-canoeing-biking...pick one.
Tennis all the way unless it is really hot then canoeing to keep cool.

7. What sound drives you crazy?
My friends kid does this high pitched squeal and it just racks my nerves every time he does it. That really drives me crazy.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Dale is down to his last day at the academy. He will come home tomorrow and graduate on Friday. Yeahhhhhh we are finally done.

Nothing to do

Today was a day to just chill and relax or as my kids say chillax. LOL anyway I woke up with this overwhelming feeling that I didn't need to do anything today so I spent the day just hanging out at home doing absolutely nothing. Well that's not true I did clean the house this morning and work a little bit on my Christmas cards throughout the day but for the most part I just chilled. I love being able to have days like this. Not that I get them very often. I am ready for the school year to start so we can all get back to our normal schedules.

Dj is a teenager

So thirteen years ago today I gave birth to one of the best blessings in my life at Biloxi Memorial Hospital to my wonderful son Dominic Sellers. I can't believe he is really that old already, I can't believe Im that old already. It seems like just yesterday he was this great little boy who always wanted to cuddle with his mommy and now he is a teenager who wants nothing to do with his mom and would rather sleep all day and play with his friends. I love him so much. I know he knows how much I love him and would do anything for him. Well come on and join me in my new adventure called Teenagehood. Got any good advice for me? This is all new territory for me. So here we go.

A full day at church

Wow ok so this was a first in a long time. We accually went to church today and stayed for the whole thing. I got to catch up with friends and finally got to hold little Tossi. That's Annalise's new little girl. She is so cute and with a head full of hair. Plus I got to hear some great talks. I forgot how much I love church. I so need to start going again every week and staying the whole time. I know Dale wont be able to only because he has to work but I am so going. Later Dale left to go back to the academy for his final week. He will graduate at 11:00am in Nashville on Friday the 29th of July. I am so happy it is almost done. It will be great having him around again.

All alone

So the kids went out to play with their friends and both decided to spend the night. It was a little strange not having them home at the same time as my wonderful hubby but at least we got some quiet time without the kids. I love spending time with my hubby like that. I guess I should get use to it considering the fact that the kids spend more and more time out of the house now that they are getting older. Either way Dale and I had a great day and now off to have a great night.

Toe Party

today I picked dale up from the academy and we went by to see the house we are looking into buying. It was nice but smaller than I would have liked. There are a lot of things I love about it but not sure about at the same time. After we got home we relaxed for a bit and then I headed out at 9 to go to christie's toe party. I gave everyone who wanted one a pedicure then we played just dance and then headed home at around 2:00 in the morning. We always have so much fun when we get together. Now I am going to bed cause I am very tired.

Wedneday HodgePodge

1. July 20th marks the anniversary of the first time man stood on the moon. Flash forward 42 years to July 8, 2011 which marked the start of the final Space Shuttle mission. Should we continue to explore space? Should nations devote more or fewer of their resources to exploring space? Would you want to go into space if the opportunity arose?
Wow that's a lot to process at one time. OK so I think we should continue to explore space. How else are we going to learn about it if we are not out there trying to get to know about it. I think yes we should spend resources to explore space. And last but not least Yes I think I would go into space if the opportunity arose for me to do so. I love space and so does my son.

2. What are three things in your freezer?
Freezer jam and a lot of it, corn, and hamburger meat.

3. If you could see any band/artist perform live tonite who would it be? It has to be someone living...no Beatles, Elvis, etc.
That's an easy one I would love to see Aerosmith in concert again. It was the first concert my husband and I went to see together. I love that band.

4. Ice-cubed or crushed? Or are you one of those people who don't like ice?

I personally love ice and I like it crushed only because it makes it easier to eat that way.

5. The owner of a small restaurant outside of Pittsburgh recently announced he was banning children under six, saying they regularly disrupted other customer's meals. You can read the story in more detail here but isn't this a perfect topic to discuss in our Wednesday Hodgepodge? Have at it friends...what are your thoughts?
That is a two sided coin that I am not going to fight over. I see and understand both sides of it.

6. What was your first car? How did it come to be yours?

My first car was a little blue P.O.S. that my parents gave to both me and my brother since we were in the same grade and both had our drivers license. My brother wrecked it about a month and a half after we got it so I didn't have it long.

7. If I had a nickle for every time I _________________ I'd be rich.
Heard my son say the words Whatever or Beast. The two most annoying words in his vocabulary.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am so glad that Dale only has four more days left of his training and then he will be home for good. He is happy to be done also. He graduates on the 29th of July at 11:00. I am so proud of him.

Today was another long normal day. The kids played with friends and I worked on my christmas cards. Yup trying to get a head start so that they will be done by christmas. Later we watched a couple of movies together. Now we are all going to bed. Not that the kids will sleep but at least they are in their rooms.

Off to week 9

Today we finished packing Dales things for his next week of training. He is on week nine and doing wonderfully. We are both ready for him to be done and home for good. I miss having him here when I need him during the week. Plus I am ready for school to start. They have a couple more weeks before that happens but I hope it goes by fast. Their first full day of school is on the 9th of August but they have a half day on the 5th and a meet and greet with their teachers on the 4th. Dale has one more week of training and then he graduates on the 29th of July.

Harry Potter day two

So today I went with the family to go and see the last Harry Potter film. This will have been day two of seeing it for me. I loved the movie. It was a perfect ending to the whole thing. The kids and dale really liked it to. The only down side is that we had to sit in the very first row and that was no fun. After the movie we went out to eat and then spent the rest of the day just hanging out as a family. It was great.

Stamping club and Harry Potter

So today was my usual stamping club. We did a great guy layout. I really need more of those. Then Diana and I went out to lunch at O'Charlies. Later I went and picked up Dale at Vista and then headed home for a couple of hours of hang out time. Later around 7 I headed over to Diana's to pick her and her daughter Ashley up and we all went to see the double Harry Potter Movie. They showed both Part 1 and 2 back to back. It was great. The three of us had a great time. I am home now and it is 2:30 in the morning so I am going to keep this short cause I am tired. 6 hours in a movie is a long time.

The great Tomato Plant Tragedy

Ok so most of you already know that last year I attemted to grow tomatoes on my deck and had no such luck. Well I thought I would give it another go this year and found a sweet spot on my railing to put the pot so it would get tons of sun. It did great this year and I had about twenty tomatoes growing and then last night we had a storm and when I went out to get the plant down so it wouldnt fall I was to late. It fell twenty feet to the ground below and all the stems snaped. I lost it all. I am very sad about this. I guess I just wasn't meant to grow anything on a deck. I will just have to wait until I buy a house to plant my garden.

Wednesday HodgePodge

1. How has your hometown changed since you were a kid? What has changed most about the neighborhood you grew up in?
Well my first neighborhood I got to go back and see last year when my step-dad died and it was now call Old Town but looked just like it did when I was growing up. Somethings never change but the town around it exploded and looks nothing like I remember it. As for my home town in Mississippi well it looks nothing like it did when I was growing up only thanks to that lovely mother nature known as Hurricane Katrina. Not even the house I grew up in is there anymore. But that's what you get when you live in a Hurricane area.

2. What song makes you laugh?
Its a stupid song but have you heard the song by Bruno Mars called "The Lazy song." Yeah that song cracks me up every time. I still have not learned how to put videos on here from YouTube so I can't show you but you should so listen to it.

3. Are you a fan of Harry Potter? Read the books? Seen any/all of the movies? Will you be standing in line somewhere close to midnight later this week? For those of you playing along today who live outside the US or UK is Harry Potter a phenomenon in your part of the world?
Yes I am a fan of Harry Potter. No I have not read the books but I have seen all the Movies. No, I will not be standing in line at midnight to see it. I am not a Fan-attic like I am about The Twilight Saga in which I have both read and seen everything related.

4. If the truth hurts, will you tell a lie? Are we better off as a society in a world that allows no form of deception whatsoever?
That is a hard question. Most of the time I feel the truth is always better but in some forms I guess little white lies are OK depending on the situation. Like with your kids. I think there are somethings that a little white lie can hold them over until they are old enough to understand the truth. But when it comes to adults I think the truth in 99.9 % of the cases is always the best idea. No matter what happens. As for are we a better off society in a world that allows no for of deception I have no idea. That is just beyond my realm of understanding.

5. What is your favorite 'sauteed in garlic and butter' food? Or garlic and olive oil if that makes you feel better.
I don't saute anything in garlic or butter because I'm not a fan of either of them. Olive oil is OK but again I don't saute anything. I'm not a big fan of cooking so most of my meals take thirty minutes or less to prepare.

6. Attending any reunions this summer/year? High school? family? Other? Do these events stir up excitement or dread?
I was planning a reunion this summer but it fell apart so no nothing for me and usually when I know I get to go to one I am really looking forward to it. I don't get to see most of my family through out the year so I like it and as for my High school well I would just like to know where everyone went after the hurricane shot us to all corners of the country.

7. Lilac, hydrangea, peony...pick one.
Lilac. I both love the smell and the flower.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm very sad about my tomato plant. Read next post to understand why.

Another Hot day

Ok so today I just couldn't take it anymore so I got the kids up and dressed and we headed out. We went to the new Wild Wings place and then headed out to Nashville to stop off and check out Joannes and Michael's craft stores. I didn't end up buying anything just because nothing jumped out at me and said buy me although Joannes is having a sale on their 8 1/2x11 packs of 50 piece paper for a 1.99 that is a savings of 2 dollars. I almost got some but then I remembered that I already have a ton of paper and really don't want to end up like my dear friend Diana and have to much. Lol love ya Diana. We are all very gratefully for your bountiful paper. lol. Anyway we got home about 6:30 and it was still hot in the house. Cooler than the 108 it was outside but still hot. Now I'm going to take a cool shower and sit in front of the fan and try to cool off.

A hot day at home

Ok so today was for casted for 97 with a heat index of 115. Yeah that's hot. I don't know if it was just the heat outside or my air conditioner not working right but it was hot in my house all day. Ill be it not as hot as outside but still hot enough to sweat all day. We even had all the fans running in the house and it was still horrible. It has been so hot that not even my freezers are working right. You know its hot when they aren't working. I hope summer gets over with soon. I don't know how much more I can take of this. I am going to go to bed and try to get some sleep although I'm not sure how much I will get if it doesn't cool down a lot tonight.

Another Sunday

Yup just another Sunday. Nothing new. I got up and finished my laundry then helped Dale pack up his stuff for another week of training. He is on week 8 which means only two more to go. I am so happy it is almost done. After that Mindy picked me up and we headed out to do a little couponing before I had to take Dale and drop him off at Vista. Once I dropped him off is was back home to wait for Mindy to call and let me know what time Aiden's birthday party is. I can't believe he is already 1. This year has just flown by. I never did hear from her so I guess they had the party already. Now I'm blogging and then headed to bed early for what I hope is a good nights sleep even though Dale isn't here.

The truth is stranger than fiction.

Given the recent Court Activities utmost in all our minds. Here is some actual recorded conversations in open court...Laugh on my friends...

IT CAN BE HARD KEEPING A STRAIGHT FACE AS A COURT REPORTER

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?

WITNESS: He said , 'Where am I, Cathy?'

ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?

WITNESS: My name is Susan!

____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Now doctor , isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep , he doesn't know about it until the next morning?

WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?____________________________________

ATTORNEY: The youngest son , the 20-year-old , how old is he?

WITNESS: He's 20 , much like your IQ.

___________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?

WITNESS: Are you shitting me?

_________________________________________

ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?

WITNESS: Yes.

ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?

WITNESS: Getting laid

____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: She had three children , right?

WITNESS: Yes.

ATTORNEY: How many were boys?

WITNESS: None.

ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?

WITNESS: Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?

WITNESS: By death..

ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?

WITNESS: Take a guess.

____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?

WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard

ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?

WITNESS: Unless the Circus was in town I'm going with male.

_____________________________________

ATTORNEY: Doctor , how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?WITNESS: All of them.. The live ones put up too much of a fight.

_________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Now Doctor, at what time that you examined the body?

WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 PM

ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?

WITNESS: If not , he was by the time I finished.

____________________________________________

And last: (my personal favorite)

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?

WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?

WITNESS: No..

ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?

WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.

ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?

WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Nothing important

So we didn't do anything to important today. We went to pick Dj up some shorts at the goodwill because he has outgrown all his other shorts and ended up finding three pairs plus a pair of tennis shoes for him and a pair of clogs for Elyssa all for 20 bucks. I think we did pretty well. Other than than nothing else happened. We watched a few movies and now are hitting the hay.

A day at home

OK so usually I would be scrapbooking today but since we did the all day scrap at Diana's house on Tuesday and she is out of town for a family reunion we are not scrapbooking today. I did a little more work on my Christmas cards just because I want to get them done before Christmas this year. I figure if I start now I will have them done and ready to send out by the beginning of December this year. Not that I am rushing the end of the year because it is already going to fast.

Dale got home from the academy early this week so I didn't get to finish cleaning the house like I wanted to before he got home but it wasn't all that bad to start with. I did a deep clean out of our bedroom and walked out of there with two trash bags full of trash. Its amazing what you hold onto when your not paying much attention. Hence the reason I do spring cleaning four times a year.

After Dale got home we just hung out until bedtime. Now everyone is asleep and I am up. That's what happens when I don't sleep well all week.

Wednesday HodgePodge

1. What is the most useful book in your house?
That would have to be the computer. I know its not a book but really anything you can find in a book you can find on the computer.

2. What's worse-being too hot or too cold?
Oh without a doubt being to hot. But I'm not a big fan of being to cold either. I would love for the weather to be about 70-75 all year around and that would be perfect.

3. Share something that made you smile this past weekend.
Just hanging out with my family. They always make me smile.

4. How do you like your hamburgers? Or don't you?
I don't eat them much just because they are not very good for you but when I do eat them they have to be well done. No pink what so ever.

5. What's your summer beach read? If it's not summer in your part of the world then tell us what book you're reading in front of the fire while sipping hot cocoa.
currently I am not reading anything but I will soon start the last Twilight Saga... Breaking Dawn to get ready for the up coming movie.

6. How was your birthday celebrated when you were a kid?
Usually with just a small family party until I turned a teenager then all my friends along with my family. I have pretty much done the same thing with my kids.

7. What's something that is totally uncool that you love anyway?
According to my kids the 80's music I love to listen to. They think its old school but I think its great music to dance to and get motivated.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Not thinking anything at the moment.

All day Scrapbooking

So after this crazy day I had yesterday I am feeling so much better. Which is great because I get to scrap in my pj's today. So me and the girls planned this a few weeks ago and I have been so looking forward to it. I got two sets of cards done and had great company in the process. It was me and Elyssa plus of course Diana, Carmen, Jamie, and Elaine. Well Elaine came really late cause her aunt died so she had to go to the funeral but we were very happy to see her when she did show up. We had sub sandwiches for lunch and chicken pot pie for dinner. It was a great day hanging out with the girls talking about all kinds of things. We should so do this again. Well Im home now and so tired so I am hitting the bed.

White walls with a gold tone comforter. Only because I got it for 20 bucks and I live in an apartment so I can't color the walls I would if I lived in my own house.

3. Do you carry a donor card?
No but it says on my drivers license that I donate.

4. In your opinion, is the glass half empty or half full?
Always half full.

5. Vanilla or Chocolate?

Both but if had to choose probably Chocolate.

In bed sick

So I woke up out of a dead sleep at four o'clock to me needing to throw up. What. Yes I am sick but not sure how I got sick because I felt fine a few hours ago. After going over my day I figured out that I must have food poisioning because no one else was sick around me. So I am spending the day in bed. What a way to spend the 4th. On to week 7/Fireworks

Yes it is that time again for me to drop my hubby off for another week of training. I can't belive how fast this weekend has gone. It seems like yesterday that I was just picking him up and now Im dropping him off again. At least he is almost done. Only three more times of dropping him off then hes home for good. I hope that comes fast.

After getting home and Dj heading out to spend the night with a friend I get a call from Samantha who is one of Dales co-workers wife. She asked if I was planning of going down to the river today. I said no wasn't planning on it why was something going on. She said yes they are doing the fireworks tonight. I said cool we will car pool down that way we don't have to fight traffic as much. So we got there and the fireworks were great. Mindy and her crew showed up and we all had a great time. After it was all done we meet up at the Waffle House and had breakfast for dinner. Now we are home and it is late so I am going to bed.

Meeting Brother Campbell

Ok so I got a strage call last night asking if we had anyone to help clean the church on Saturday. I had totally forgotten to call someone so I said yes and thanks. Dale went with Dj to pick Bro. Campbell up at his hotel and they cleaned the church. Afterwards Dale brought him to our house to hang out a bit. After a few hours they all wanted to go see the new Transformers movie but I was not in the mood to sit in a theater so Mindy called and asked if I would watch Aiden for her while she took the boys to go school cloths shopping. I said yes and she dropped him off and everyone else left for the movie. Mindy picked Aiden up at 10 o'clock and Dale and the kids got home around midnight. Now we are all headed to bed. What a day.

Family game night

So after a long day of paying bills and hanging out we decided to play a few games as a family. It started out ok but Dale of all people quickly got irritated with the whole thing and so we quit. The kids went to their rooms to watch tv and I watched a little tv with Dale in the livingroom but he quickly got tired of that to so we are headed to bed now. I think he just might still be tired from his long week. I just hope he gets over this attitude soon.
