New Years Eve Reflection

I am borrowing this from a blog I saw featured on Beverly's Saturday Shout outs. I just couldn't pass it up. I just love doing these kinds of things. It lets people know who I am and gives me a chance to also let my kids and family know a little bit more about me. I hope you take this also and give others just another small chance to get to know you a little better.

20 Questions for a New Year’s Eve Reflection

1. What was the single best thing that happened this past year?
there were so many things but I would have to say that reconnecting with my mother after 10 years was a great thing.

2. What was the single most challenging thing that happened?
I cant say that just one thing stands out. It was an over all challenging year.

3. What was an unexpected joy this past year?
Getting to know my four youngest brothers and sisters. They are great. I can't wait for them to be here all the time.

4. What was an unexpected obstacle?
Having to get a job after being a stay at home mom for so many years.

5. Pick three words to describe 2010.
Short, unexpected, enjoyment.

6. Pick three words your spouse would use to describe your 2010 (don’t ask them; guess based on how you think your spouse sees you).
Strong, healthy, growth.

7. Pick three words your spouse would use to describe their 2010 (again, without asking).
Normal, easy, fast.

8. What were the best books you read this year?
This is an easy one. By far the best books I read this year are by an author called Beth Wiseman. I am sure everyone knows who she is but I just discovered her this year and I love the way she writes.

9. With whom were your most valuable relationships?
I would have to say first and foremost my wonderful husband who despite all my mood swings still loves me just as much if not more 12 years into our relationship. Secondly my beautiful children who are growing up so fast its hard to get good quality time in with them. And third but not last are all of my crazy wonderful friends who have stuck by my side and helped me through all the challenges I have faced. Thank you girls for everything you do for me. I hope I can be just as good of a friend as you have been to me.

10. What was your biggest personal change from January to December of this past year?
That would have to be my challenge in getting to the gym everyday. I am not happy about it considering that I use to be there everyday and now I am lucky to get there twice a month. I hope that 2011 will be much better.

11. In what way(s) did you grow emotionally?
I think I grow every day emotionally. It just depends on the day I suppose.

12. In what way(s) did you grow spiritually?
Same answer as #11

13. In what way(s) did you grow physically?
Well I really didn't grow physically at all this year. At the beginning I lost a bunch of weight and gained a few pounds back but I pretty much just maintained.

14. In what way(s) did you grow in your relationships with others?
My relationships grow with every passing day. They get stronger and better.

15. What was the most enjoyable part of your work (both professionally and at home)?
Well considering that I am mostly a stay at home mom and I babysit on the side I would say watching the young children grow and learn and mature everyday.

16. What was the most challenging part of your work (both professionally and at home)?
Getting attached to those children. It is only temporary and I know I will miss them very much when I move on to the next chapter in my life.

17. What was your single biggest time waster in your life this past year?
That would be without a doubt my use of the computer. While yes I have had less time than I wanted blogging I have spent more time doing other things like Facebook and other things. My goal for 2011 is to only be on the computer as needed. No more wasting time.

18. What was the best way you used your time this past year?
I got a job babysitting to help bring in a little more money for our family and I got the chance to really get into some good books this year.

19. What was biggest thing you learned this past year?
That time really is precious and moves very fast. Things are gone before you know it and you can't get the time back. To really take my time and enjoy my life and my family. These kids these days really are up and gone before you get a chance to really know them.

20. Create a phrase or statement that describes 2010 for you.
It was a long year in some ways and in others a very short year. I hope that the coming year I will be challenged in ways that will help me grow as a person. I hope that it goes a little slower so that I can take the time to really enjoy the true blessings in my life.

Happy reflecting! And pass over that bowl of popcorn.
