A Beautiful Peaceful Sunday

Today is not over yet. Far from it really but I just couldn't wait to blog about what has happened so far today. So the kids and I went to church today without dale because he wasn't feeling well and afterwords we went out to lunch at the Chinese place like we always do at the end of the month. Since we are on a budget we don't eat out as often as we use to so we take the kids some where they like once a month as a treat. Anyway we got to talking and we ended up having a great conversation about everything from how important it is to get a good education and to always keep learning. To thinking of yourself as a sponge and always be willing to learn something new. We also talked about how important it is to look for those quality's in their future mates also, that its not always about the looks. Yes its nice to have and attractive mate but if they are smart and willing to keep learning that will only be a plus for them and for their future children. I asked them how great they thought it would be to have two parents who set great examples like that? Plus we talked about house work and sowing and cooking and laundry, and how its not just important for Elyssa to know these things but DJ also. Plus a ton of other things. It was so nice to talk to them without it being a big fight. I wish we could have more moments like that. The greatest part was that it wasn't just me doing the talking they really pitched in and gave their opinions and asked questions about stuff.

I am really blessed to have two of the most wonderful children. Yes they have their moments when i just want to run away screaming but its moment like today that really make it wonderful. I hope that we can keep up this line of communication even when they become teenagers. I know from being around teenagers during the summer that sometimes its just easier for them to talk to someone who isn't their parent but my hope is that i have taught them well enough to know they can come and talk to me about anything. I really love being a mom.
